CBD or Cannabidiol (can-na-bid-i-ol) is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. With its ever growing media coverage, CBD for pets has become a household name. WIth every passing day, people across the world are discovering its indisputable benefits and have started to adventure in to possibilities of similar options for their pets.
CBD is a cannabinoid just like the popular and well known Tetrayhydrocannabinol (THC). While THC is used for its recreational function, CBD is used for its therapudic properties. Although cannabidiol can be found in the familiar marijuana plant, the CBD compounds used in hemp products are extracted from the hemp plant which does not contain any of the psychoactive or “high” effects that THC does.
More than 100 cannabinoids have been identified in the marijuana plant. Of these cannabinoids, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) have been studied most extensively. In addition to cannabinoids produced by the plant, there are also cannabinoids that occur naturally in the brain and body.
The endocanabinoid system runs throughout your body and is full of receptors that bind to the cannabinoids you introduce to your bloodstream. Although cannabidiol has no pshycoactive properties, it is highly reactive when introduced to the endocannabinoid system.

Humans have been using CBD for years to treat various ailments. But I am sure you're asking yourself "how can CBD help my pet?" We know that humans share up to 98% genetic similarity with other mammals and assuming your pet is a mammal, they have the same endocannabinoid system you have. Which means that we are susceptible to many of the same kinds of illnesses.
Dogs suffer from anxiety, inflammation and age-related illnesses just like their human friends. Due to the possible anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and calming effects of CBD, many with aging pets swear by the youth and vigor that CBD for pets can reintroduce into the life of a dog who has been slowed down by the inevitable effects of age.
Selective breeding has produced loyal and athletic dogs that have served innumerable roles in the lives of their human friends. The canine species has been crafted into the perfect tool from German Shepard police dogs to lapdogs like the Pomeranian. Simultaneously, we created breeds like pugs, with flattened snouts that can lead to breathing problems.
Review CBD as an option with your vet to see what may be right for your pet.
